OUT PATIENT THERAPIST II

The Town of Stratford is currently accepting applications for the position of Out Patient Therapist II for the Community Services Department at 468 Birdseye Street, Stratford.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This is an at-will position that is responsible for providing individual and family therapy to Stratford residents by completing a minimum of 18-25 sessions per week and working two evenings per week.  Responsibilities also include providing case management, information and referrals, and coordination with schools and community agencies for outpatient therapy and Juvenile Review Board clients as well as conducting therapeutic, support or psycho-social groups.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

This position reports to the Community Services Clinical Program Manager.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Complete and up-date all clinical files in a timely manner.  Collect client payments regularly and maintain accurate balances within client files. Maintain appropriate records and documentation of all program, counseling and social service programs in accordance with Town protocols.
  • Complete requests and documentation from Child Health and Development Institute of CT (CHDI) for compliance with Trauma-Focused Behavioral Therapy certification.
  • Attend LIST, RAC, or other determined required meetings to represent the Town.
  • Conduct community outreach to increase awareness of the Town’s services and other behavioral health resources.  This includes up-dating social media and webpage as well as making presentations to community groups.
  • Be available for emergency operations and recovery in the event of an emergency or disaster (natural, human caused or national security) affecting the Town.
  • Contribute to Community Services efforts to promote inclusion and participate in cultural responsiveness training opportunities.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:

  • Good knowledge of counseling principles and practices, community resources and relevant local, state and federal laws.
  • Good ability in oral and written communications and ability to relate to people on an individual and group basis.
  • Good ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superior, associates, officials of other agencies, and the general public.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. 
  • Bilingual a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree from a recognized university in Family Therapy or related field and 3+ years experience providing individual and family therapy.  Must have a CT DPH professional license.  Have Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy certification or complete requirements within 6 months. Become individually contracted with state and private insurance panels.  Bilingual a plus (Spanish preferred).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Driver’s License required.

SALARY RANGE:

$64,000 - $66,000 DOE
