Youth and Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth, Inc.
The Board of Directors of Youth and Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth, Inc. (HKYFS, “the agency”) is seeking a dynamic, innovative professional who shares our vision of a connected community where youth and families are resilient and feel safe, supported and empowered. This individual will lead a well-regarded youth and family services bureau that has served the Haddam and Killingworth communities for nearly 30 years. We are looking for a full-time, in-person candidate with a strong track record of impact in the youth services field and an understanding of the needs of young people and the factors that promote their success. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping youth and families and will possess strong leadership qualities along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This individual will also be responsible for implementing our strategic plan, overseeing our budget and managing our staff. The agency oversees the HK CommunityCoalition which focuses on youth ATODprevention programming with the Haddam-Killingworth community.
Funding: Financial support for this non-profit, 501(c)(3) agency is provided by the towns of Haddam and Killingworth, state and federal grants, individual and corporate donations, and proceeds from fundraising events and private foundations.
Summary Job Description: Reporting directly to the Executive Committee of the HKYFS Board, the Executive Director’s primary responsibilities include:
- Oversee, develop and administer all activities of the agency
- Direct and supervise all clinical, prevention and support staff
- Be accountable for budgetary and programmatic results
- Collaborate with Regional District 17 schools, town leaders and other key community partners
- Lead fundraising efforts and agency resource development
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities
- Gather data to assess agency impact and report on results
- Advocate for the needs of children and families
- Professionally represent the agency to all clients, government and community constituents
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will meet the following profile:
- An enthusiastic, compassionate and experienced leader with a demonstrated commitment to social service and advocacy on behalf of children and families
- Demonstrated passion for the promotion of positive mental, emotional, and social development for youth and families
- A Master’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in social work, public health, or a related field
- Demonstrated effective leadership of an organization, especially in the nonprofit sector and/or related to education, prevention, youth empowerment and community organizing
- Effective experience with nonprofit board development, grant writing and fundraising
- Experience with budgeting practices and financial statements
- A dynamic public liaison and partnership builder
- Experience with supervision of clinical mental health staff and clinical interns is preferred
- Ability to balance multiple priorities with an organized approach
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation expertise
- Computer literacy, particularly with QuickBooks, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point
The successful candidate will be available for periodic community interaction on weekends and weeknights. Fingerprint and background check is required. Salary range is $68,000 to $80,000 per year and commensurate with qualifications.
