ANTI-RACISM AND EQUITY 101
  • Friday, April 29, 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 3, 2:00-3:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 17, 6:00-7:00 p.m.

FOR YOUTH SERVICE BUREAU EMPLOYEES ONLY. This session will provide participants the opportunity to racialize their voice while building a brave and safe environment to engage in courageous conversations. Participants will be introduced to the Courageous Conversations Compass and will have an opportunity to practice, navigate, and commit to using the Compass. This will give participants the opportunity to listen deeply to better understand each other’s perspective; and to sustain the conversation when it gets uncomfortable or diverted. In this session, we will engage in the Compass in order to sustain and deepen dialogue about race, racial identity and institutional racism. There will be 40 participants max for each workshop offering.resented by SERC

  • Friday, May 13, 9:00-10:30 a.m.

FOR YOUTH SERVICE BUREAU EMPLOYEES ONLY. This session is available to anyone who has participated in the 101 session (including staff who attended the SERC session at the Annual Conference). Participants will continue to learn about navigating the Courageous Conversations compass, as well as utilize the Courageous Conversations About Race protocol, to deepen their understanding of power and privilege. Participants will discuss how power and privilege impact their lives and the culture at their Youth Service Bureau. There will be 40 participants max for this offering.

CHAPTER REFLECTION SESSIONS

The reflection sessions will offer participants an opportunity to continue to discuss and deepen their understanding of the work they have engaged in during the workshops. Participants will be encouraged to challenge themselves around their understanding of their experiences, identities and how that impacts the work they do. These sessions will be one hour each and will be hosted by each chapter. FOR YOUTH SERVICE EMPLOYEES ONLY.
